Topic: Economic viability pf a PV carport model at any chosen location with maximun
on-site consumption of generated solar power.

Background

Die SOPAGO GmbH is a start-up in the renewable energy sector with a clear mission: we aim to add a new building block to energy transition. Our modular solar carport system is specifically designed for industrial, commercial and municipal use – delivering solar power right where it’s needed: on site.

This feasibility study aims to examine how solar carport systems can be operated to maximize on-site consumption of generated electricity and minimize feed-in to the grid. This includes the analysis and development of battery storage solutions, energy sales models and other innovative business concepts.

The objective is to develop a PV carport concept that meets two key requirements:

a. Maximizing local consumption of generated solar power with minimal excess feed-in
b. Ensuring an economically viable operating model through electricity sales, additional services and alternative revenue streams

Scope of Work

A. Market and Competitor Analysis

  • Research competitors in Germany and Austria
  • Comparison of prices, products and services

B. Target Group Analysis

  • Identification of relevant consumer groups that can continuously use locally generated PV electricity
  • Focus on energy-intensive sites with predictable consumption (e.g., hotels, municipal facilities)
  • Analysis of their requirements, consumption profiles and long-term on-site retention potential

C. Technical Analysis

  • Innovative PV carport concepts considering battery storage and charging infrastructure
  • Models for local energy distribution (e.g., balancing group models)

D. Economic Analysis

  • Development of a business case
  • Assessment of dynamic electricity prices, cost structures and grid fees
  • Evaluation of additional revenue models: advertising, LED displays, parking management
  • Consideration of relevant funding programs

E. Scenario Development

  • Evaluation of different locations
  • Inclusion of additional economic optimization factors

F. Reporting

  • Development of an overall concept
  • Comprehensive report summarizing the study results and recommendations for next steps
