Airbus presented the first experimental prototype of its space-based energy transmission system at its innovation facility X-Works in Germany. Energy from a photovoltaic panel was transmitted in the form of microwaves to a receiver located 36 meters away. During the demonstration, the transmitted energy was used to light up a model city, power a hydrogen generator, and cool a refrigerator filled with non-alcoholic beer, which was later enjoyed by the audience.

This project showcases the potential future of space technologies, where solar energy collected in orbit could be transmitted back to Earth for use as clean energy.
